Chapter 8

Chrysalis looked over Remy’s bio. None of the information on the page was anything that she hadn’t seen before. She flipped through the previous interview held by the magazine. She already knew what she wanted to ask, but she wanted to push and probe a bit further. Chrys’ aim was to confront Remy and show him how his past actions were the catalyst for behaviour that hurt and alienated Marissa. She picked up Remy’s profile again.

Remy Bane: Real Name: Remington Montgomery Edwards
Age: 26 now 35 years old
Occupation: Lead Singer of the Blues Rock Band Flintlock.
Background: Grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana, USA.
Father: Carpenter
Mother: Kindergarten teacher
Siblings: Sister, Megan 25 now 34 years old. Brother, Taylor 27 now 37 years old.
Significant other: Girlfriend, unnamed.

Notes:

Estranged from his family. Father refuses to acknowledge Remy is even his son.

Cause of rift: Dispute because Remy wanted to be a musician instead of going into the family carpentry business, like his sister and brother. Stays in touch with his mother, but rarely has contact.

Discovered Blues and Jazz at the age of 5, when he accompanied his father to New Orleans. At the age of 10 started hanging out in Mr. Leon’s Vinyl Record shop, after school. Got part time job in Vinyl shop at 14. Graduated high school and left Shreveport to visit relatives in England. In high school he met Dane Masters, future drummer for Flintlock and Spike, (last name not given), bass player and sometimes keyboard/piano player. Met Kaos, (no last name given) guitar player, in the Rainbow Room Club in the West End of London. Bandmates Dane and Spike joined him and the group did a tour of Europe, before doing college tours to promote music. During a tour they got signed, produced their first album, ‘Never Felt The Same Again’. Their first single ‘Looker’, made its way up the charts and even had some crossover success.

Second album ‘Again the Rain’ had even more success with singles ‘She’, ‘Raining on Me’, ‘Love Letters’ and ‘Phone Call’ enjoyed top of the charts and mainstream success. Third Album ‘Stay the Night’ enjoyed equal success as the second. The fourth album exploded onto the scene surrounded by rumour and gossip. Scandal broke out during the tour when it was revealed that the inspiration for the lyrics to such songs as ‘Don’t Leave Me’ and ‘Begging You’ came from girlfriend Marissa Lewis, now 25 years old. Remy met her when she was a sophomore in college. Scandal surfaced when his girlfriend caught Remy Bane with lead singer of the Flaming Banshees, Deidre Maxwell in a compromising position. Things were made worse when Deidre gave a tell-all interview, giving out details of her sexual exploits with Remy Bane and giving copious details of in-fighting in the band Flintlock. Flintlock is currently on tour to support the fourth album ‘Torn Apart Again’.

“You need to eat something.” Chase Kelly said, as he poured his daughter a second glass of her favorite Strawberries and Cream milkshake.

“Not yet. I’ll eat after the interview is over, but for now I have to concentrate.”

Chase shook his head. “You didn’t eat breakfast, now, what will ya have?”

“How do you know that?” Chrys enquired.

“I just know, now order.”

He gave her a stern look and Chyrs broke down. “Okay, I’ll have chicken fingers with the curly fries and another milkshake. ‘Cause you know I’ll be done with this one by the time the food’s here.”

Chase grinned and wrote it all down. “That’s my girl.”

He turned to leave to place the order but was stopped when she called out to him, loud enough for everyone to hear. “Hey dad! How did the date go? You never called me to tell me about it.”

Chase blushed bright red and looked around, before dashing back to his daughter.
“Not so loud okay? I’ll tell you later.”

Chrys wouldn’t be deterred. “Come on dad, just a little something. Kaitlyn’s hot!”

Chase grinned. “Yes she is err, hot and I’ll tell you later.”

Chase turned to leave when he heard her say, “You better have gotten laid, Dad. I told you, sex on the first date is not a bad thing!”

Chase turned bright red and ignored the chuckles coming from some of the patrons in the nearby tables. Chrys grinned. She didn’t want to embarrass her father, but this was payback for all the times he had embarrassed her about her personal life. She would never forget when she told him she had been asked out on a date, at the age of 15. Her father had given everyone drinks on the house and told them all that his little girl had her first boyfriend. Now this was payback time.
